Law Enforcement - Jacking up..........

Are you one of those gullible types who thought that law enforcement was always on the side of whats right, and good, and legal?

I've always heard these kinds of things were happening to some individuals in the community, but never gave them any credibility, till now.

Consider this police radio transmission I heard on a scanner recently.

Police Officer #1 - "I just saw Tyrone ******* up on the boulevard. Want to go jack him up?"

Police Officer #2 - "It's been a very long day and I have a very bad headache. We'll get him next time."

On the one hand this police radio transmission says very little. On the other hand it says much. Maybe much too much. Maybe much more than most of us would like to know, but all of us need to know.

I don't know if jacking up in police jargon means the same thing as it does in street slang, but if it does, these two police officers were conspiring to commit a violent criminal assault on a private citizen who, it sounds like, was just walking down the boulevard not bothering anybody. This consideration of jacking up Tyrone doesn't even seem to be related to enforcing any laws.

There is no indication in this transmission that there was an arrest warrant issued for Tyrone, or that he was suspected of being involved in any particular criminal act, but even if he was it wouldn't justify a violent physical assault on him. If there had been a warrant issued or any real belief that he was involved in criminal behavior, police officer #2 never would have said - I've got a headache and we'll get him later. If he had any value as a police officer and concerned for the safety of his community he would have said - Hell yes. Headache or no headache, let's get this piece of shit off the street before he hurts somebody else. But he didn't. As a matter of fact it sounds like this proposed assault was just a means for two bored police officers to entertain themselves on a slow night.

What was it about Tyrone these officers didn't like?

His hair?

His clothes?

His after shave lotion?

Is this the quality of individuals our government is commissioning as police officers with a badge, a gun and a license to kill? Based on this one incident, it appears so. Rather than patrolling the community to keep the rest of us safe from those who would do us harm, some police officers are scouring the streets searching to beat up and terrorize private citizens, of whom they disapprove, for reasons that have nothing to do with law enforcement. Rather than removing the criminal element from the streets, they instead become the criminal element that threatens the physical safety of all of us and our families. These two police officers were ordering up a violent criminal assault on a citizen like some of us order up a hamburger and fries.

AND THEY ANSWER TO NO ONE!

As for you Tyrone, I don't know anything about you. I don't know if you're a career criminal, an ax murderer, child rapist, a Sunday School teacher or all of the above. I don't know if you're a good person or a bad person. I don't know if you're one of Americas most wanted in your town, or on the run from the law. I don't know if you ever got your threatened jacking up and, Tyrone, I don't know if you're dead or alive. I don't know if your battered remains are rotting beneath a desolate decaying bridge in your town, or if your corpse is lying alongside a long forgotten trail serving as a feast for all Gods creatures great and small.

What I do know is that your proposed assault is indicative of a corrupt police department and the corrupt government that directs them. I do know that law enforcement officers like this, who have no moral compass, forfeit any right to sit in judgement, legal or moral, of anybody, especially when their own ranks are rife with violent individuals who chose a career in law enforcement, not because of the oft repeated claim that they like helping people, but because it provides them with the means to impose a primitive political and social agenda. A social agenda thats based on their own unresolved adolescent ignorances and bigotries, that most of us outgrew in the maturation process, and those that didn't chose careers where these societal misfits are free to rain terror on those segments of our communities they'd prefer never existed. Their minds are unevolved and they remain frozen in a state of intellectual arrested development.

These are not the qualities of individuals that we need to protect us, these are the qualities of individuals we need to be protected from, and it would serve both the citizens and law enforcement communities well to not lose sight of that fact.

While I do have grievances with our local Howard County Police Department, in all fairness, (Why would I want to be fair to the HCPD? hmmmmm. Like Sarah Palin told Katie Couric, "I'll have to get back to you on that."), the transmission referred to above was NOT a Howard County transmission. But based on my first hand experience with the HCPD, and considering the stories many of you have told me, it could have been. It certainly could have been-couldn't it?

LAW ENFORCEMENT - A FORCE FOR GOOD OR A FORCE FOR QUOTAS?

When at their best, law enforcement officers are the best of role models and even heroes to their communities. All too often citizens don't appreciate exactly how much officers and their families sacrifice for our safety and protection.

However, when at their worst they're villains, and no better than the criminals they claim to pursue. Lying, to and about citizens, could be exactly how it is the criminal justice system creates suspicions, by the public, of themselves.

As every lawyer will attest, there is no right and wrong in criminal justice, only laws. But, I've concluded there is not even an interest in laws, as much as there is a blind obedience to, contrary to their frequent protestations, reaching quotas. Quotas in arrests and quotas in criminal convictions, with no regard for matters of right and wrong.

Not that they need my support, but when they're right, I am, in fact, a most fervent supporter of law enforcement. When they're wrong I'm equally as critical, and in this case of godless bob vs, Howard County Government, they are very, very wrong.

They're current assignment is to protect the reputation, wealth and source of wealth of one of our countys wealthiest and most powerful individuals, Executive Kenneth Ulman. They've pulled out all the stops to harass and intimidate those who have no wealth, no power, and only a voice. In contrast to the wealthy, who are eating lobster and filet mignon several nights a week, driving BMW's and living in near mansions, some barely have enough resources to keep from having to sleep in the woods at night and forage through garbage cans for a meal.

This is how the power-ful keep the power-less in check. It's an assault by the wealthiest and most influential Americans to keep control of those with the least of resources. It's a weapon to destroy those of whom, some of them, disapprove.

It's unfortunate police officers are not able to be the beacons of true justice in our community, like they have been in the past and like they are in other communities, and in the face of one of the darkest political administrations in Howard County history. It's unfortunate their interest is indoing the dirty work for a personally and maliciously driven politician, and his ill gotten wealth.

Combined with the quota system, the dishonest statements, and harassment of private individuals, and being the stormtroopers for a crooked government, our law enforcement officers are doing a great injustice to the cause of justice.

At least, that's the opinion of this one citizen.

like so many colors in my jesters suit,
there are many ways and that's my right,
if you don't fancy all this morbid talk,
better switch to walt disney's site.

howard county maryland,
one of the wealthiest in the nation,
and now we see her democrats rule,
by fear and intimidation.

the indecencies of our crooked king,
nothing else can ever top it,
the smutty ways he punishes me,
to conceal his slumlord profits.

his majesty, a tyrant wannabe,

has control across the board,

he's ordered medicine taken from me,

and he wields it like a sword.

(and that, law students, even in fantasy, is your textbook case for maliciously driven reckless endangerment and gross abuse of power.
you'll go to the head of your class with that one. and take note voters, this is only one of dozens of reasons why, even in fantasy, our petty king, with his shallow and easily bruised ego, is unfit for elected office. he's playing chicago style politics, with private citizens - break their legs and then ask questions, or don't.)

there's no riddle, reason, or rhyme to it,

or more casual and comfy street clothes,

because, i have a very good sense of these guys,

and they're not just your average joe's.

but, when they're knights for a king,
the temptation is great to think they're being led,
with no regard for what may be

it's the man with a gun who looks past me,
unaware he might make me a martyr,
chances are, it's also the man with a gun,
who condescendingly calls me "pardner."

they're just doing what everyone else would do,

having a cheap laugh at my expense.

i'll never deny the good things they've done,
but, it's time now, to go it alone,

this is how spineless men behave,

as headlines come with the new days sun,

they look at all the carnage about

saying, "lord, what have we done?"

it's much to late to walk away,

from their role as villains willing,

their fates forever sealed in hate,

or personalities as some might say,
but this sadness that you scarred him with,

because standing beside,

it was enough so that i thought for a moment,

casual conversation is fine with me,

this constant surveillance, if it were any one else,

i might think i'm being stalked,

they may be working for that golden opportunity,

it's a little confusing, the mixed signals they send,

i'm trying hard to read the signs,

to set in motion the wheels that mean,

the end of my behind.

now, i used to run some years ago,

and i'm certainly out of practice,

but with motivation like this,

and these cards stacked against me,

my run could be galactic.

Today I wore my pink shirt and pink, gray and black tie, as I have for literally decades, and the rolling eyes and snickering faces were just too numerous to count.

Which leads me to another imponderable. Where have you sheltered sons of guns been for the last year and a half. Haven't you heard there's a new Sheriff in town? Except for that time I mutilated my throat with a razor blade, for art I tell you, while wearing my favorite pink shirt, turning it a rather stunning bright red and pink, STUNNING I tell you, I've always had a penchant for pink shirts. Men look very good in pink, pink and black, pink and red, and the President looks very good in pink shirts. There's absolutely nothing wrong with men wearing pink, provided it's outerwear. If it's not, I don't want to know about it.

While on the subject of the justice system in Howard County Maryland, Let me just say that I've never needed the services of a Public Defender before, and rarely the services of a private attorney, but I must admit to having a case of the heebie-jeebies initially because of all the talk I've heard about how Public Defenders just shuffle defendants through the court system like they do government paperwork.

Let me tell you, I now know from first hand experience that the Public Defenders I worked with in Howard County Maryland provided the best legal representation I've ever received. They cared about the issues I was raising as well as the bigger issues of free speech and Constitutional Rights. While the case never even went to trial, I was completely confident in the abilities of these two Public Defenders and was certain I would have received an aggressive and principled defense by these excellent, and under appreciated Maryland Public Defenders at the Howard County Courthouse. With Public Defenders of this quality, who needs private and unaffordable private attorneys? Not me!

In the state of Maryland, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman has, by executive order, barred one private citizen from access to all county services, including the Department of Social Services and the Department of Human Rights. Furthermore he has demanded that any and all request for information, services and documents, required to continue services already received and qualified for are to be ignored and not answered. As a result of Ulmans executive order, private citizen has had his only access to medical care, Medicare, terminated by both the Howard County Department of Social Services, who has refused to provide recertification forms for at least 4 months now, and the Social Security Administration, even though he is currently qualified for the coverage and has been for most of a decade.

It appears the reason for Ulmans aggressive and illegal actions against a single private citizen are because of his desire to silence all critics before what may be a failed re-election bid launched by the County Executive. Private citizen has been responsible, in the past for exposing the seedy underbelly of Ulmans administration and his back room wheeling and dealing with the likes of wealthy slumlord and Democratic Party fund raiser, Philip E. Ratcliffe. Ulman was personally asked by citizen to reverse his criminal order, but the County Executive refused.

In the case of Maryland, both Ulman and O'Malley have their sights on higher office, and the prospects of their connections to nefarious types derailing their hunger for wealth and power, justifies in their eyes, squelching that information by any means necessary. Again, it's the same old same old, profit over lives. Their profit over our lives.

But the thirst for justice, by those with little economic and political power will not stop here. Even in war, which can last decades and centuries, governments don't tire till the population gets sick of the bloodshed. Likewise with corrupt governments, like Ulmans and others, the abuse of private citizens will not cease till the electorate gets sick of the bloodshed. Unfortunately, in the case of individual abuse, the blood is shed by one abused citizen at a time, as opposed to the tens or hundreds of thousands in wartime, and because of our Judeo-Christian heritage we have a huge appetite for and tolerance of bloodshed. As evidenced by any news broadcast, bloodshed is synonymous with entertainment, and we have amused ourselves to death. This will take generations to be corrected. It'll not be in my lifetime or most of yours.

As is the case in Howard County and Ken Ulmans administration, those people who claim to be the most progressive and advanced are actually the most backward and primitive, but eventually the world will change. Unfortunately too late for most of us.

All justices concur in landmark ruling

In an historic ruling, justices in the Iowa Supreme Court on Friday unanimously granted marriage rights to gay couples living in the state.

The decision is the fourth time that a state Supreme Court has determination that a state constitution should marriage rights to gay couples living in the state. Same-sex marriage was previously available in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and briefly in California.

In the opinion, justices determined the statutory ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional because Polk County “has been unable to identify a constitutionally adequate justification for excluding plaintiffs from the institution of civil marriage.
